Professor Matt Serra is the head instructor at both Serra BJJ Academies.  Matt is a fourth degree blackbelt under Master Renzo Gracie and was the first American to be awarded their black belt from Renzo. In his tenure as a high level combat sports athlete Matt has been an ADCC, Mundial and UFC Champion.  He holds notable wins over Chris Lytle, Frank Trigg, and Georges St. Pierre. In 2018 he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Jason Rau

Jason Rau is a 1st Degree Black Belt under Professor Matt Serra and is one of the main instructors for the ‘beginner’ and ‘advanced’ programs at the Levittown academy. Jason also serves as the head instructor and coordinator for all of the children’s classes at the Levittown academy. Jason is also an active competitor who has received worldwide notoriety. He is currently ranked #12 at 77kg on FloGrappling’s NoGi Rankings.

Dan Astarita

Dan “The Pool Guy” Astarita is a 1st Degree Black Belt under Professor Matt Serra and is one of the main instructors for both the ‘beginner’ and ‘advanced’ programs at both the Huntington and Levittown academies and has been teaching at SerraBJJ since 2009. Dan also serves as the manager for both locations.

Mike Piccolomini

Mike “Patolino” Piccolomini is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Matt Serra and is the head instructor and coordinator for all of the children’s classes at the Huntington academy. He also serves as one of the main instructors for both the ‘beginner’ and ‘advanced’ programs at the academy. Patolino also possesses a 4th degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate, as well as degrees in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Music.

James Gabert

Kru James “Angry Snowman” Gabert is the head striking coach at both the Huntington and Levittown academies, specializing in a blend of Dutch and Thai styles of kickboxing. A former Ring of Combat Welterweight Champion, James has fought for such organizations as ROC, WEC & UCC. He holds notable wins over MMA veterans like Jonathan Goulet and David Porter. He is also a purple belt in BJJ under the legendary Ricardo Almedia and is well versed in JKD and Filipino martial arts. In addition to his combat sports experience, James is also an Army Veteran & Subject Matter Expert for Modern Army Combatives.
